How to Wear Spring’s Pastels Trend

If there’s one thing a girl can’t ever have too much of in her wardrobe, it’s chalky pastel hues. Which is why we’re so excited that spring/summer 16/17 is set to see a sugary-sweet pastel palette replace the more traditional brights and floral prints we see crop up every summer. Win.

Almost good enough to eat, expect a wide array of candy-coloured shades to dominate this season. From fresh mint to cotton-candy pink, the pastel trend will have jaws dropping and mouths watering.

Question is: how the hell do you wear this ice cream-inspired look? Have no fear, we’ve got you covered.

Pastel Colour-Blocking

We all know how colour-blocking works. The daring styling technique is what we were all trying out a few years back: cue flashbacks to cherry red tops with canary yellow skinny jeans and sky blue blouses with burnt orange pants circa summer of 2011/12.

Well, the same rule applies for pastel colour-blocking. Team a silk peppermint tee with a pair of mauve skinny jeans to take a fun and feminine approach.

It’s in the Details

If you’re not feeling quite confident enough to go all out pastel on pastel, why not just introduce the trend into your look in a more subtle way this spring? Perhaps with a taupe nail polish or sherbet-lemon handbag, your makeup, footwear and accessories are the ideal way to try out spring’s hottest trend.
