Introducing Our New Ambassador: Archie

Meet Archie, our newest Ambassador!

Meet Archie. Catalogue model, animal rights activist, certified ‘Good Boy‘™ and our newest Ambassador. We caught up with the cutie to find out what makes him tick, and what gets his tail wagging.

You’re a natural in front of the camera! What made you get into modelling?

To be honest, I’ve always loved the spotlight. I must admit, I turn heads as I’m walking down the street and I’m often stopped on the weekend, so modelling seemed like a natural fit for me. I’m not sure if it’s my ‘too cool for school’ attitude or my wicked selection of outfits, whatever it is-the locals love it. The craft service is also definitely a bonus.

You look amazing. How do you keep in shape?

I walk religiously. It helps me keep in shape, and also helps clear my head. I also make friends down at the local park, the greyhounds will often chase me around but I’m very self motivated – I prefer to chase my tail.

I’m also conscious about only eating organic, healthy foods. Carrots and blueberries are my favourite! I’ll help mum cook dinner most nights – she’d be completely lost without my guidance. Mum is a vegetarian but she’s happy to poach me up some chicken, let’s be honest, who can say no to these big brown eyes.

Your schedule must be packed! What do you like to do in your down time?

When I’m not on shoots, I love to go on bush walks and try my paw at swimming (its tough, pugs don’t float!). And of course, spending time with my best friend Lenny the cat, and my beautiful girlfriend Audrey.

What trends are you most excited to see for this coming season?

This summer is all about being bright and bold! Think warm reds, pinks and oranges. But really, I believe what’s most stylish is what you feel good in – so opt for luxurious and breathable fabrics like linen and silk.

Why are you excited to be working with Brands Exclusive for their Christmas campaign?

Nothing gets my tail wagging more than the thrill of a designer steal. So naturally, when Brands Exclusive approached me, I couldn’t say no! It just really felt like a paw in the right direction.

Why You Should Embrace Colour This Season

Lighten and brighten your wardrobe for summer!

Time to ditch the black

Do you find yourself constantly gravitating towards plain black? You’re not alone! While sometimes a monochrome wardrobe seems like the easier choice of a morning, we’re here to inspire you to give colour a go this Summer!

1. It’s a guaranteed mood-booster

A little colour never hurt nobody, in fact, it does quite the opposite! Research suggests wearing warm reds and pinks releases dopamine and actually boosts your mood. Alternatively, cooler blues and greens are known to have a calming affect, something we all need from time to time.

2. A tan goes with any colour

If you’re taking the dive into the rainbow, Summer is definitely the time to start. A healthy bronzed glow – store bought or otherwise – will match basically every colour under the sun. Now’s the time to jump in and try it out!

3. Take a clash course

Spots, stripes, florals – these days anything goes! Start by mixing block colours, hot pink and red are seriously trending right now. Check out Gucci and Versace’s latest show for inspiration that packs a punch.

4. Confidence is key

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t feel impossibly feminine and chic in a cute floral dress? Experiment with the what shape and colour that suits your body, and makes you feel great, because nothing looks as good as confidence!

3. It’s what’s underneath that counts

When it comes to underwear there’s one name that reigns supreme: Calvin Klein. Shop up a storm with our latest edit, and you’ll be in comfortable company with the likes of celebrity ambassadors; Justin Bieber and Kendall Jenner.

And when it comes to swimwear this season, Buyer Tina suggests making a splash with nautical styles. Nothing beats the classic colour combo of blue and white, in either a flattering one piece or chic bandeau style. Not only will it flatter all body shapes, it’s an investment that will sail you through many summers to come.

4. Metallic Madness

According to our Footwear Buyer Hayley, once you go metallic – you never go back! Go bold this spring with a streak of silver in your stiletto, or opt for sandals or flats with a striking gold sheen to add an extra spring in your step.

Jazz up your casual weekend outfit with a healthy hit of cool, courtesy of a metallic brogue – perfectly paired with some light denim jeans and your favourite white shirt.

5. Finishing Touches

No seasonal wardrobe is complete without the all-important accessories. To up the style factor on your summer look, our Buyer Nicole suggests throwing serious designer shade with a new pair of sunglasses. Go sophisticated and glamorous with a feminine cat eye, retro 70s with some swinging round frames or jump on the recently revived trend of Browline Geometic shape for instant cool.

When it comes to jewellery, Nicole advises delicate is timeless – which is why a dainty Pendant Necklace is the look du jou among the style set.

Don’t forget to bag a bargain in our latest edit! Nicole recommends opting for an opulent oversized tote, it’s both practical and stylish. Lift your bling game with an uber-cute bag charm – they may be tiny but they are this season’s hottest accessory that sure packs a punch!

7 Major Things To Avoid At The Races

To stay on track for a fabulous day out!

To stay on track for a fabulous day out.

Heading track-side this Spring Racing season? The races an be a fabulous day out, but before you don your best fascinator, check our list of major no-nos to avoid a faux-pas…

1. Go with the flow

More often than not, a day out on the wide open space near the race track will involve a sizeable gust or two. Avoid showing the world a part of your outfit you’d rather keep hidden by avoiding short, flowing dresses and opting for long, fitted silhouette.

2. Put your best foot forward

Let’s face it, unless you’re lucky enough to be invited to the members stand, seating options are limited. Ensure you spend the day in comfort by selecting your footwear wisely. Avoid a stiletto heel (and sinking into the grass!) and aim for a block heel. Silicon party feet are also a lifesaver for those who love a higher heel, and avoid wearing a brand new pair of shoes – and the blisters that usually go with it.

3. Hydration station

While there’s nothing as glamorous as sipping on some bubbly trackside, don’t neglect a glass or two of water throughout the day. Spending an entire day on your feet in the sun can take it’s toll, so keep hydrating! Your head will thank you in the morning.

4. Hello sunshine!

Speaking of sunshine, be sure to incorporate a quality pair of sunglasses into your Spring Racing look. There’s nothing sexy about a glare.

5. It’s what’s underneath that counts

Think about the logistics of your races attire. Does your dress require a strapless bra, or do you need to invest in some Hollywood tape? Nothing ruins a beautiful dress faster than a hot pink bra strap showing.

6. Size does matter

When it comes to handbags that is. Make sure your selected clutch can fit all your essentials – concealer, lip gloss and bronzer, to keep you looking fresh all day long.

7. Check the theme

Most days of the Spring Racing Carnival have a set theme, for example Derby Day is all about the black and white, while Oaks Day is flirty florals’ time to shine. Check ahead of time to make sure your outfit theme is on the right track.

Baby steps will get you there! Try adding a printed handbag, belt or shoes to get you used to the idea. Slowly but surely you will learn love a splash of print in your look, and perhaps even dare to wear this season’s hottest trend.
