Tomorrow marks the official start of summer, which means it’s time to start pencilling some Sunday beach sessions into the diary! Make sure you’re packing the right stuff into your tote, with our list of Sunday beach essentials.
One-piece cut-out swimsuits are back in a big way this summer, thanks to their combination of sex-appeal and practicality. We’re also seeing a lot super high cuts (think 90s Baywatch style) and tassels, for a little fun.
Wide brimmed hat
Even when you’ve slip slop slapped, your face needs some extra protection from the sun. A floppy hat is the most stylish way to do it, and we’re loving all the straw options that are available at the moment.
This trend isn’t going anywhere! Round beach towels made a huge splash last summer, and they’re coming back with a vengeance this year. Go for 100% cotton for maximum comfort as you lay back and watch the waves roll in.
Cotton cover up
You’ll need something to throw on as you dash from the beach to your car, and a fresh white cotton cover up is just the ticket. Grab a pair of gladiator sandals too and you’ll be ready for cocktails by the sand should the occasion call for it!
If you throw one thing in your tote for your Sunday beach adventure, sunscreen should absolutely be it! Go for something with SPF50+ and water-resistance, and make sure you re-apply (and re-apply and re-apply!).
Snacks and water
Never underestimate how energy-zapping a few hours in the sun can be! It’s super important that you stay hydrated by sipping on H2O regularly. Pack an esky with freezer blocks, snacks and a big BPA-free water bottle (make sure you re-fill it at regular intervals). Choose healthy snacks that are easy to eat, like fruit and muesli bars.
The right music will take your trip to the beach from good to great, but no one wants to listen to the tinny sounds that emanate from a phone’s speaker. A portable, waterproof Bluetooth speaker is the answer to your prayers! There are plenty of options on the market offering serious sound quality at an affordable price
Ever lost your way back to your towel? Good news; besides keeping you safe from the sun’s harmful rays, a bright and colourful umbrella makes it heaps easier to find your gear when you’re heading back in after a swim.
