Universally flattering, this not-quite-blue-not-quite-green hue made quite an impression on the runways in head-to-toe looks favoured by designers across the globe.

Elie Saab’s evening dresses  were worked in luxurious lace encrusted chiffon in a rainbow of greeny-blue  hues.

Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s head-to-toe teal looks were oversized, sleek and minimalist, making a lasting impression in suede suits, leather jackets and structured wool separates.

The fabulous teal prints at Marc by Marc Jacobs made for brilliantly bold fashion looks we want to wear!

A darker teal was favoured over at Narciso Rodriguez, where slinky cocktail dresses and pointy toed high heels looked seductively feminine.

We saw a turquoise-esque shade at Roksanda Ilincic, who showed oversized car coats, tea-length dresses and colour-blocked sleeveless shirts in the vivid hue. We are also loving those teal heeled boots!

Mulberry worked the teal trend via leather suits, jacquard mini skirts and tailored pants.

‘Smart Casual’ (Casual-Chic, Elegant Casual, Dressy Casual)

Perhaps the most used and broadest of dress codes, Smart Casual can be somewhat daunting. Essentially, the term calls for pulled together versions of casual looks.

For her this could be a summer dress with a blazer or a tailored pant and camisole look. For him, a pant and button down shirt combo is a good option.

Keep your hair and accessories natural, and when in doubt, dress up!

‘Smart’ (Lounge suit, Morning Dress)

Calls for a slightly more sophisticated look than Smart Casual.

For women, a longer length skirt or a tailored pant pairs nicely a sophisticated short sleeve number. For men, a lounge suit, also known as a town or business suit is called for here. Ties are appropriate but not essential.

Think softer lines and classic tailoring.

‘Cocktail Dress’ (After Five, Informal)

Cocktail requires something again more dressy than Smart. Think short (knee length to mid-calf) elegant cocktail dresses for her and dark suits for him.

‘Formal’ (Special Occasion)

Girls should choose a full length dress paired with heels, a formal or glamorous suit, or if the event is during the day, a formal cocktail dress.

‘Black Tie’ (Evening Dress)
