On these hot summer days, we love nothing more than to throw on a bikini and head down to the beach. However, with Australia labelled the skin cancer capital of the world, it’s more important than ever to implement sun safety into our daily lives and protect our skin, maintaining our health from the inside out.

Combining style with practicality, this Australian label offers the ultimate in luxury sun protection. Enter, Sun Soaked.

Where It All Began

Established in 2012, founder and designer Kate Davis Steer turned her vision into reality. In anticipation of an upcoming beach holiday, Kate took her daughter shopping to buy a rashie. Much to her disappointment, she was unable to find one with even the slightest hint of style. Identifying a gap in the market, Kate wondered how many other women struggled finding swimwear that was both stylish and sun smart. Shortly after, SunSoaked was born.

Kate’s aim was to create a sun protection label for women that was fashion focused without compromising on UV protection. With a passion for style, Kate used her background in fashion and design to transform the traditionally masculine rashie into a must-have summer essential.

“At SunSoaked being part of the community and helping to raise awareness around sun safety is an important part of the brand ethos.” – Kate Davis Steer

About SunSoaked Italian Fabric

SunSoaked garments are crafted from the highest quality Italian fabric, Wonder by Jersey Lomellina. A world renowned source for ‘innovative knits’, Wonder is characterised by a light feel which is ultra-thin yet highly protective. The high-tech fabric is made from two-way stretch, enabling the items to retain their original shape and power.

If a dip in the pool sounds more appealing to you than swimming at the beach, you’re in luck; Wonder is also highly resistant to chlorine – 10 times more than fabrics made with ordinary stretch fibre. All SunSoaked swimwear hold a UPF rating of 50+, blocking 98% of harmful and ageing UV rays.

Best of all, these products are ultra-flattering. Available in a range of figure-flattering designs, the SunSoaked collection has a variety of sun savvy swim and resort pieces. With everything from two pieces to kaftan’s, there’s something to suit your every need.

What’s Next

Since its launch 4 years ago, the brand has continued to expand rapidly and continues to boast a loyal consumer fan base. What began as a limited collection of styles sold locally in Brisbane and along the Sunshine Coast is now distributed and worn internationally by women all over the globe.

SunSoaked plans to continue their involvement in charity work with the melanoma institute based in Sydney, in addition to assisting with the organisation of future Melanoma March events held nationally throughout Australia.

Kate hopes to continue to encourage and inspire both men and women to be advocates of sun safety so that together, we can beat the statistic.

“We believe in leading the way with sun safe swimwear and aim to be a market leader as women globally become more aware of the damaging effects of the sun.” – Kate Davis Steer
