Summer in Australia truly is the social season, the weather warms up and people get into an extra festive mood. If you plan on gathering your crew for a good ol’ Aussie BBQ, we’ve compiled the top 6 things to consider to make it goes off without a hitch…

1. Give Everyone A Taste

Be mindful of dietary requirements, have a couple of options that are vegetarian (who doesn’t love some haloumi!), vegan and gluten-free. Check with guests when you invite them – they’ll really appreciate how considerate you are!

2. Share The Load

Ask your guests to bring a plate to share with everyone, many hands make light work! Assign dishes ahead of time, and be sure to include a few different salads (you can totally make friends with salad.)

3. Bring The Tunes

Every good gathering – big or small – needs some killer tracks to create the mood. If you don’t have time to create your own playlist ahead of time, plug in a Spotify or Pandora playlist.

4. Play Ball!

For it to truly be an Aussie BBQ, a match or two of backyard cricket is an absolute must. As fun as it is to hit a six, why not branch out and try your hand at lawn bowls or bocce.

5. Ice Ice Baby

This one is kind of a no-brainer, but don’t forget the Esky and ice! Whilst an Australian Soiree in the height of summer often means wine and beers, be sure to provide guests with a select few mixers to quench their thirst the non-alcoholic way.

6. Everybody Needs Good…

Neighbours! Don’t forget to warn the lovely humans in your building and street there might be some more noise than usual – and why not invite them while you’re at it!
