The Ultimate Honeymoon Getaways
We bring you five of the most outrageously extravagant (but totally drool-worthy) honeymoon destinations in the world.
The Coral Suite at the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Mexico
Situated in Mexico’s most exclusive enclave, this 9,000 square foot suite doesn’t kid around thanks to a whole hog of over-the-top luxury must-haves.
There’s a wraparound pool, personal spa with massage table and outdoor shower, an entire mini fitness center and a private cinema. As for ambience, think waterways winding through the rooms, mother-of-pearl accents, and direct access to your own private beach… it’s pure luxury that will cost you around $18,000 per night.
Poseidon Undersea Resort, Fiji
No, it’s not just the name. This five-star luxury hotel is in fact entirely under the sea – (ratehr it will be, construction is due to finish this year). Submerged in the crystal clear waters of a 5,000-acre Fijian lagoon, Poseidon is the world’s very first resort of its kind.
The hotel itself can only be described as a no-expense-spared underwater fantasy escape, complete with private 16-passenger Triton submarine, six underwater restaurants and bars, spas, shopping, libraries and sports facilities. A seven day, six night introductory Poseidon adventure will set you back around $30,000 per couple, per week. Bargain!
Royal Suite at the Hôtel Plaza Athénée, Paris
Ahh… the city of love! Fling open the French windows of the ultra luxe Royal Suite at this iconic Parisian address and you’ll be greeted by chestnut trees lining Avenue Montaigne, the rooftops of Montmartre, and the Eiffel Tower.
Inside it’s all quintessential Parisienne, complete with 18th-century furnishings, two Italian marble bathrooms complete with Jacuzzi and two Turkish baths, and curtains embroidered with three kinds of gold thread. The catch? Well… this baby goes for about $26,000 per night. Yikes!
San Ysidro Ranch, Santa Barbara, California
Consistently rated as one of the top hotels in the world, the San Ysidro Ranch in California’s wine country has an old-school glamour that’s partly thanks to list of greats that have stayed there.
Audrey Hepburn, Sir Laurence Olivier, Sir Winston Churchill and Bing Crosby have all graced the bed sheets, while the Kennedy Cottage is so named because JFK and Jackie Onassis had their honeymoon there. The Kennedy Suite fetches around $4000 per night.
The Sanctuary Villa at Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos
This two-bedroom uber-lavish villa is situated in the most secluded part of what’s already one of the region’s most private luxury resorts. Designer Donna Karan collaborated on the suite, which is part of her own compound on the island.
Think sand-between-the-toes chic in the form of luxurious day beds, teak furniture, water features, and candles galore. There’s also 360-degree views of the island private beach access, an infinity pool, a personal chef, and not one but two butlers. All for a cool $20,000 per night.
