Meet the designer duo that have established themselves as one of Australia’s leading fashion labels.
The Ginger and Smart journey began in 2002 with Sydney-based sisters Alexandra and Genevieve Smart, who launched their namesake label in 2002 with a line of scented candles. The brand has since evolved into a international success renowned for captivating design, with a product mix that includes seasonal ready to wear, a leather accessories line and a spa collection.
It’s a sense of cool confidence and individuality that underpins the Ginger and Smart design aesthetic. The sisterly duo design for women who embrace effortless chic and appreciate that fashion is above all else an expression of self.
This season’s collection, entitled Curio, is a true testimony to the Ginger and Smart ethos. Inspired by strangely unique objects that invoke curiosity, each piece is a discovery. The collection features boldly mixed prints, clashing textures and bursts of colour that create a new and exciting paradigm.
Ginger and Smart’s summer 2013 collection, presented at MBFWA last month, is inspired by the futuristic elements of nature. Flashes of bright neon contrast playfully with a soft neutral colour palette, accompanied by figure hugging tailoring and elongated silhouettes.
