Buying designer shoes online can save you a fortune, but it requires a little bit of preparation to ensure you find the perfect pair!

The internet revolution has shifted much of the balance of power into the hands of the consumer because there is now so much more choice at your fingertips – you’re literally a keyboard away from an online fashion emporium!

It’s safe to say, however, that buying discount shoes online is not the same as purchasing clothes online.

Shoes can be tricky things, mainly because it’s all down to the fitting. Now, we all know plenty of women who, if given a pair of Jimmy Choos a couple of sizes too small or too large, might go a long way to cover up the fact. Some shoe designers have that ability to make us not worry about the occasional blister!

Yet, there is a serious point here. Shoes are sometimes more difficult to fit than clothes because many of the styles are less forgiving, and if you don’t buy sensibly and and know how a good shoe should fit, then you can feel the results!

Now here’s a tip you could use when buying designer shoes online. When out shopping one day, make time to pop into an upmarket shoe shop and ask one of the assistants to help you out with the fitting. This is not so much about the shoe – this is the first stage of your research project – but about your foot. Feet come in many sizes and yours will be unique. So getting a good shoe fit is always going to be a good compromise.

The first step is to learn about your feet. Your left foot might differ from right (it could be longer, wider, or overall smaller, than the other) – keep in mind it’s not all about the size (the length), but also about the width. Remember when your mum used to bang on about your school shoes fitting properly; well she had the right idea. Shoes have to fit properly full stop.

Once you understand the size of your feet, take time to chat with the assistant and get them to show you a few labels and styles.  As with clothes, all labels tend to ‘size’ differently.

Now, it’s not a question of dropping a shoe size, but it’s a question of whether a particular label and range is known as generous or tight. Thus, one size with one label might well be another size with another label. You get the picture.

So, armed with this new knowledge about your feet and the different label sizes, you are ready to buy discount shoes online. Good luck!
